Abstract
The temporal dynamics of semiconductor laser arrays are known to be unstable1 in the picosecond to nanosecond regime. In fact, there has not yet been, to our knowledge, a documented case of stable, temporal operation. Instabilities have been attributed to transverse-mode interactions2,3 and are characteristic of ensembles of coupled nonlinear oscillators.
