Abstract

One of the most important and fundamental techniques for an optical binary computer is an optical approach for executing Boolean logic gates in parallel. Encoding concepts using the birefringence phenomenon were recently proposed.1 The key device necessary for the realization of logic gates is the opto-optical switching device, in which an optical control beam is used to switch another optical singal beam.
