Abstract
Tunable, visible radiation from lithium-borate optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) has been reported recently.1 Critical, angular phase-matching in the xy plane (type-I interaction) has been used with a pump wavelength of 355 nm. Noncritical phase-matching (NCPM) has also been reported for this crystal at elevated temperatures, with 308-nm pump radiation.2 This paper presents the temperature dependence of OPO tuning for a critical, angular phase-matched lithium-borate crystal. Temperature tuning is useful for finetuning and becomes an important factor for average-power scaling.
