The study of the transmission of multi-hundred GHz transform-limited optical pulses is of great interest to fiber communication systems. Previously, 100 Gbit/s signal were generated using time division multiplexing of lower repetition rate gain-switched DFB lasers.1 Recently, we have demonstrated the generation of nearly transform-limited pulses with a duration of 650 femtoseconds and a repetition rate of 350 GHz using a monolithic colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser.2 In this paper, we report the first transmission of transform-limited pulses at a record high repetition rate of 350 GHz over a 14.3-km dispersion-shifted fiber with an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA).
