Abstract

Modulations of visible light in the wavelength range of 550-700 nm have been measured, using AlGaAs/AlAs quantum wells with ~60% Al in the well region. The electroabsorption is provided by the quantum-confined Stark effect1 (QCSE) with the direct transition in the "indirect" material.
