Noncollinear parametric IR generation and subsequent frequency doubling in beta-barium borate

Abstract

Collinear phase matching of amplified colliding-pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser pulses at 620 ran in β-barium borate (BBO) for Type I parametric generation (PG) of femtosecond near infrared (ir) pulses is only possible in a narrow interval of angles between 20.3 and 20.8 degrees. This corresponds to a situation with small group velocity (GV) mismatch,1 which favors additional nonlinear processes due to the large intensity of the generated signal and idler fields.2
