Abstract
Diode pumped solid state lasers have proven to be extremely efficient and compact sources of coherent radiation in the near infrared. Frequency doubling (SHG) of diode pumped lasers based on Nd gain media to the region around 530 nm is an attractive method of producing efficient green laser sources. Recently, there has also been much interest in the development of mode-locking of diode-pumped lasers using active and passive techniques for short pulse generation. We report on the extremely efficient method of resonant frequency doubling to produce hundreds of milliwatts of cw mode-locked output in the green from a diode pumped laser system.
