Abstract
We describe a novel solution to the green problem present in the operation of intracavity doubled Nd:YAG lasers. This problem, originally described by Baer,1 consists of large amplitude fluctuations in the output of such lasers due to longitudinal mode coupling in the frequency doubling process. A significant advance was made by Oka and Kubota2 who used an intracavity quarterwave plate to stabilize the laser output.
