Abstract

An accurate measurement of energy deposition is essential to calculate laser efficiencies in e-beam systems. Several methods are used to determine energy deposition. Many of these methods (such as Faraday cups, radiochromic film, and electron calorimetry) cannot be used during laser operation. The standard deposition measurement used on a shot-to-shot basis is the average pressure rise measurement, which gives the kinetic energy deposited into the laser gas.
