Abstract
Notable developments of mode-locking using an external nonlinear cavity have been achieved during the last five years.1–5 However, to date most of the reported descriptions of this coupled cavity mode-locking (CCM) operation have concentrated on how short pulses have been generated from particular experimental arrangements, and the dependence of the CCM laser behavior on the various system parameters has not been adequately addressed.
