Abstract
Recently several types of optical limiter, devices that have high transmission at low power (fluence, irradiance) and low transmission at high power (fluence, irradiance), have been described.1,4 These have used self-focusing in Kerr liquids,1 two-photon absorption in liquid crystals,2 linear plus excited-state absorption in Si,3 and a combination of two-photon absorption and the associated self-defocusing in semiconductors.4
