Abstract
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in single-mode fibers is considered that it might impose a input power limitation in future long-distance optical communication systems.1) This effect has been studied using narrow-linewidth lasers such as Nd:YAG lasers, whose linewidths are much narrower than the spontaneous Brillouin bandwidth of bulk silica (~20 MHz).2)
