Abstract
We demonstrate a new technique for obtaining high fidelity phase conjugation with stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) using pump beams with wide bandwidths. With conventional configurations the bandwidth of the pump beam that can be used with SBS to obtain faithful conjugation is limited because of restrictions on the coherence length relative to the interaction length and the reduction of Brillouin reflectivity at large bandwidths. Both of these considerations make it harder to obtain faithful conjugation as the total pump power is increased.
