Abstract
High intensity ultrashort visible or near-visible pulses propagating in condensed matter can spectrally broaden into continua. These supercontinua (extending over a range as great as from ~2 to ~0.2 μm) have been extensively used in ultrafast spectroscopy and have found numerous other applications. Still, theoretical understanding of supercontinuum generation is incomplete.
