Dispersion-adapted monomode fiber for transmission of optical solitons

Abstract

Numerous proposals have shown the potential of nonlinear wave propagation in optical communication systems.1,2 Here we report on a study investigating the possibility of expanding the capacity of such systems by adapting the dispersion parameter of the fiber to the amplitude of the signals along the fiber.
