Abstract
KTP single crystals exhibit some spectral features due to absorption in the far infrared between 4000 cm−1 and 2200 cm−1. Although this region has been investigated under low1 and high resolutions2–3 with both hydrothermally and flux-grown KTP crystals, not all the bands have been identified. By comparing the spectra of KTP crystals hydrothermally grown with ordinary water with that of D2O-grown KTP, we identify those features that are related uniquely to the presence of H2O or D2O during growth process, and those features that are not. The most prominent OH− peak in ordinary water KTP appears around 3566 cm−1. In heavy water KTP this peak is shifted to 2604 c m−1 due to the H-isotope effect.
