Abstract
PbSnTe tunable diode lasers are radiation sources in the 6-30-μm range; they are being used in various applications. Lasers with high reliability, 1,2 high power,3 and low threshold4 have been developed. The remaining problem is to develop single-mode lasers that will work with simple optical systems without gratings. We have developed PbSnTe-PbTeSe lattice-matched buried heterostructure single-mode lasers with 1.7-mW radiation around 8 μm.
