Effects of excitation frequency on the gain of a surface-wave-pumped He-Ne laser

Abstract

A He-Ne laser operating at 6328 Å and using a surface-wave-produced plasma1 as the active medium has been constructed. A surface-wave launcher (Surfatron) is placed entirely on the outside of the discharge tube, thus reducing the possibility of gas pollution and cataphoresis. A diagram of the experimental setup is shown in Fig. 1.
