Unstable resonator mode formation in an XeF laser: observations and modeling

Abstract

Avco has performed experiments on an e-beam-pumped XeF laser with decentered confocal unstable resonator optics. The magnification of √5, the rectangular geometry of the cavity and optics, and the placement of the decentered optical axis of the resonator cause the output pupil patch of this laser to appear as shown in Fig. 1.
