Progress in 1500-nm coherent optical fiber systems

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Coherent detection techniques, capable of improving receiver sensitivities by up to 20 dB compared to conventional systems, are the subject of intense study worldwide. This paper reviews recent progress in development and understanding of 1.5- μm coherent optical fiber systems.
