Abstract
Since subpicosecond laser pulses have become available,1,2 study of their interaction and absorption in plasma is of interest on account of the nonlinear force processes. In these cases electric field generation and the presence of double layers in the plasma are important as is known from the caviton mechanisms,3 and a first estimation of the absorption processes involved4 now has to be evaluated for the necessary relativistic conditions.
