Abstract

Color center lasers are efficient sources of tunable laser radiation but usually have the practical disadvantage that the active medium requires cooling to cryogenic temperatures. This is a major restriction to their utilization in optical systems, especially outside the laboratory environment. We have been conducting research toward achieving stable color center lasers which overcome this cooling restriction.
