Abstract
Use of reflectors with Gaussian reflectivity profiles in optical resonators has been theoretically shown to yield many interesting properties, namely, arbitrary large fundamental Gaussian-mode diameter, high discrimination against high-order modes, and good perturbation stability.1 The Cassegrain configuration appears particularly attractive because it allows matching of a Gaussian mode to gain media of any size.
