New optical probe for noncontact measurement of automobile edge lines

Abstract

In the case of automobile shape measurement, it is essential from the viewpoint of car design to measure characteristic lines such as edge lines. However, the conventional edge-line identification technique using a contact probe has several disadvantages such as low speed, low accuracy, and damage to delicate edges.
