Abstract
We present a proposal for a very high-gradient (~10-GeV/m) linac powered by a picosecond CO2 laser. The accelerating structure would be formed by a double row of droplets ejected from an array of nozzles etched in silicon. The high fields (of the order of 10 GeV/pm) would form a conducting plasma on the droplet surfaces to form a resonant cavitylike structure. Coupling of this structure to focused incoming laser radiation is achieved by appropriate periodic perturbations on the structure.
