Abstract

Laser fusion experiments require laser pulses of well-known shape. Since the powers focused on target exceed those at which a plasma develops by factors of <106, laser pulse power diagnostics of a comparable dynamic range become desirable. We, therefore, developed a third-harmonic correlation scheme, which, depending on various parameters, has a dynamic range from some 106 to 1011 and a time resolution of about the FWHM pulse duration.
