Abstract

For several years signal processing has been recognized as an important application area for guided-wave optical technology along with communications and sensing. This paper discusses the design and performance of signal processing devices using single-mode integrated optics and fiber-optics components. Potential advantages over conventional techniques and some typical applications are indicated.
