Abstract

To investigate the IR + UV laser isotope separation scheme (IR selective excitation of the v3 mode + UV dissociation), we study in this work the photodissociation dynamics of UFs excited in the first electronic band. Dissociation is monitored by the formation of laser snow, and the dissociation yield is related by a simple expression to the time of irradiation necessary to observe laser snow.1 Two electronic transitions have been identified in this band,2 and based on these a model was developed that accounts for the fluorescence lifetime measurements.3
