Airborne remote sensing measurements with pulsed CO2 lasers

Abstract

A lidar instrument based on compact pulsed carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers has been developed for airborne remote sensing of atmospheric trace species. The instrument is now operational on the NASA Wallops Flight Center P3 aircraft. A flight test program was conducted during 1981, and results are available on instrument performance, data quality, and target signatures.
