Abstract

The rapid development of laser systems and advanced electronics has permitted the introduction of efficient remote-sensing techniques for air and sea based on applied laser spectroscopy.1,2 The interaction between laser light and molecules is monitored as absorption, fluorescence, or Raman scattering. As platforms for remote sensors, trucks, airplanes, or satellites can be used. For the atmosphere both meteorological parameters and pollution levels can be measured.
