Abstract
Recent developments in stimulated Raman spectroscopy offer a means of studying the dynamics of IR photoexcitation processes with unprecedented spectral resolving power (<0.002 cm−1)1,2 and sensitivity. In this paper we report the application of SRS techniques to study the photoexcitation dynamics of SF6 molecules irradiated by a CO2 laser source. The results demonstrate the ability of SRS to monitor in a time-resolved manner both the depletion of the ground state and the population of the vibrationally excited manifolds of the system.
