Generation of tunable picosecond pulses from a bulk GaAs laser

Abstract

We report the generation of picosecond pulses from a bulk GaAs crystal which can support a gain column as long as 1 cm. Using two-photon absorption as a means of excitation, one expects deep penetration of the pump intensity, further increasing the volume of the gain medium.
