Abstract

A synchronously pumped mode-locked traveling-wave ring dye laser has produced tunable pulses as short as 0.9 psec as shown in Fig. 1. Average power output was 200 mW with rhodamine 6G, peaked at 580 nm, pumped with 1.3-W average power at 514.5 nm, at 76 MHz. The ring cavity was half synchronous in length, yielding ~1.3-kW peak power, and was tunable over a 60-nm range, using 16% output coupling.
