Cavitation erosion of laser-quenched Fe-Al bronze

Abstract

Cavitation erosion (found in marine environments and fluid transport systems) occurs when air bubbles in a liquid collectively collapse upon a metal surface. The stress waves induced preferentially attack the weaker components in heterogeneous alloys.
