Injection locking of a HgBr laser

Abstract

Avalanche discharge excited HgBr2/HgBr dissociation lasers oscillate in the blue-green spectral region (495-505 nm). Recently these lasers have demonstrated high wall plug efficiency (1%) and high output energy (57 mJ) in a 0.1-liter active volume. Tuning and linewidth reduction of an HgBr laser oscillator have been demonstrated by replacing the high reflector with a diffraction grating; however, the laser output energy is significantly reduced.
