Transient and noise characteristics of quantum-well heterostructure lasers

Abstract

We investigate the transient and noise characteristics of quantum-well heterostructure (QWH) lasers.1 These lasers exhibit a large reduction of the resonant shot noise effect and elimination of the damped relaxation oscillations commonly observed in double-heterostructure (DH) lasers with comparable stripe widths.
