Bragg gratings in polarization-maintaining, large-area higher-order-modes fiber

Abstract

We report on the inscription of Bragg gratings in optical-fibers designed for carrying polarization-maintained (PM) large-effective-area, higher-order-modes. We find that the Bragg gratings offer a convenient and superior platform for complete characterization of PM-multimode fibers.
