32-Gbps DAC-Free Block-Wise QPSK 1200-km SSMF Single-PD Direct Detection Transmission Based on Delta-Sigma Modulation for Virtual Carrier Generation

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrated a 32Gb/s block-wise QPSK signal transmission over 1200-km SSMF using a single PD. Both QPSK and carrier are generated using high speed digital IO ports based on delta-sigma modulation without any DACs.
