Ultra-compact Silicon Photonic Edge Coupler Based on Subwavelength Gratings

Abstract

We present an ultra-compact fork-shape edge coupler based on subwavelength gratings structure. This edge coupler achieves a high efficiency of 77% with only 36.5 μm in length, exhibiting stable bandwidth feature and large fabrication tolerance.
